How do I know if my business is a sole proprietorship, limited liability corporation, non-public corporation, or public corporation?
A sole proprietorship is a one person company (or husband and wife) that is not registered with the state as a corporation. If you have registered as a corporation, the type of entity is easily identified by reviewing documents used to register the entity or viewing the most current income tax return filed on behalf of the entity.
